Commercial Instincts

K-Pop found out recently that K-bao had declared K-Mum recently her "bestie" (her "best friend," alongside her other faves at school such as Atenea, Milagros, Sienna, Alexandra etc.). K-Pop, while normally not so forward, felt he perhaps had rights to this exclusive club, and made a discreet inquiry about it this past weekend.

Sensing an opportunity, K-bao decided that this high end club clearly needed an entry price given the demand for admission. She ran off with a marker, a piece of paper towel and a head full of sparkly ideas. The below is what she came back with.

Yes, you saw correctly. The first paper reads: "Gold coins and stars and gold. Thank you." As I said, sparkly ideas. At least she had the manners to write Thank You at the end.

Then feeling she was perhaps set the price too low, she added a second piece of paper towel, which reads: "Pink and blue dress. A kitten. Love Kayla." The Love, Kayla perhaps was meant to soften the blow of a hard message.

Shocked and outraged by this act of pure commercialism, K-Pop launched into an extensive diatribe about how some of the best things in life cannot be bought or sold, and furthermore how one should think about things such as love and friendship. He then wrote the following list to drive home the message.

Of course, the numbers were just meant to be illustrative, because in reality they are so much more (even on a single semester basis!).

Unrepentant

K-Pop: "Ok, K-bao, as a consequence you are not getting any dessert tonight."

K-bao: "Well, you can sit and have dessert and be bored. I'm going to run around and be free."

p.s. This, apparently, is what she meant by "run around and be free." The below video was shot shortly thereafter in Arizona.

BBW

K-Pop's had a few days off this week and has been taking K-bao to some old haunts.

Here are a few shots from the famed "Spooky Hill" and the Presidio's Inspiration Point where K-bao still remembers spotting a dead rat and the subsequent long conversation about the Circle of Life.

This time however she was more concerned with peering behind every tree to find the Big Bad Wolf (BBW), and collecting lots of big sticks so as to fend off the wild beast when he inevitably appeared. When it turned out he was too slow in coming, guess who had to make an appearance as Mr. BBW and suffer a lot of dry wood (and insults) flung his way?

Genius

K-bao: "C-bao, what's 1 + 1?"
C-bao: "10"
K-bao......"C-bao, what's 5 + 5?"
C-bao: "10"
K-bao: "Daddy! Did you hear that? Nobody taught her! She's so smart! Wow!"

Queen of the World

While not yet exposed to James Cameron's Titanic (and hopefully a long ways off from being exposed), young K-bao has one or two things in common with mischievous and adventure-seeking Jack Dawson.

A few months back K-bao figured out how to climb on top of a nearby playground structure. The structure clearly wasn't built for climbing and the maneuver required some precarious balancing. Of course, as soon as she made it up there, she spent the rest of the afternoon shouting self-aggrandizing things from her elevated perch.

She now regularly frightens grownups and children alike by scampering up and down the roof whenever she spends time at the park. Occasionally she inspires some followers, as she did below.
