Taiwan 2017

This summer K-bao made her third summer trip to Taipei to visit K-Grandpop, K-Grandmum and her other beloved relatives.

Indeed, as it was both her grandparents' 70th birthday and Father's Day in Taiwan, the entire extended family made it out from various cities around the world for a full reunion.

K-bao and her sister C-bao don't get a lot of time with their cousins and aunts and uncles on K-Pop's side, so it is always a blast for them to hang out.

Whether it be burying themselves in card games (Uno, The Big 2 which they both learned to play on this trip and absolutely love), huddling together over a table to watch the Netflix show Horseland, or just plain goofing around, whenever the cousins or Shu-Shu or Xiao Goo-Goo (and Uncle Zech) were around, it was a quick goodbye to K-Pop and K-Mum and the girls would be off.

Needless to say, K-bao also enjoyed plenty of great Taiwanese food -- beef noodle soup, red bean paste buns, black sesame desserts, ice soy bean milk and tea eggs. 

 K-bao had many other adventures in Asia this past August -- more posts to come!

Munchkin

K-bao also got to see her second cousin, Little C - a.k.a. "The Munchkin" - in Singapore. She had not seen the Munchkin (who is daughter of K-Pop's cuz Auntie Julie) in quite some time, as she resides on the other side of the world, but the two had the opportunity to sit next to each other at the reception dinner. After a few shy minutes, the girls warmed to each other quickly and ended up running around heckling guests and creating havoc on the dance floor the rest of the evening. Naturally, K-bao led the mischief.

Splash Wars

K-bao visited Aunt Carol, Uncle Will and Co. (J-Cuz, K-Cuz) recently in Redding, CA.

While Redding has its many charms, mild weather is not one of them, and K-bao battled 105 degree heat all weekend. Like a hot hippo, she sought out cool water in which to simmer down, and ended up spending 80% of her weekend in the pool.

"Cowabunga!"

In the water, K-bao amused herself by diving for rings, playing aquatic football, paddling around with her floaties, and splashing her cousin Justin (thereby setting off several rounds of Chan-Hu wars - which, for the record, the Hu's claim victory in). 

Cousins

K-bao got to meet Cousin Elizabeth, who is almost 2, last week at the house of Da Goo Goo (Aunt Esther) and Da Goo Chan (Uncle Ying-on).

Cousin Elizabeth is unbelievably precocious and normally runs around like a steam locomotive, but demonstrated empathy for her infant cousin by lying on the mat with her and Pompous the 'Po, asking to play in the little exersaucer she hadn't had occasion to use for a year (she had to do it on her knees because her legs are now too long), introducing her to Disney's Mulan six times in three days, and taking K-bao into her lap every now and again. Good times by all.
